The France-based parcel delivery giant, GeoPost, and UNI Global Union today signed a global agreement on human rights and the freedom of association.
The signing ceremony took place at GeoPost headquarters in Paris in the presence of Philip Jennings, UNI Global Union General Secretary and Paul-Marie Chavanne, Chairman of GeoPost. Also signing were UNI Post & Logistics’ French affiliates (CGT, CFDT, FO).
The agreement applies to the entire the GeoPost group which is the second biggest parcel delivery service provider in Europe and a worldwide leader. It confirms GeoPost’s commitment to respect human rights in line with the International Labour Organisation’s Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the UN Guiding Principles on Human Rights.
UNI Global Union General Secretary, Philip Jennings said, “This agreement is a significant breakthrough. It is the first time that one of the delivery parcel giants has signed an agreement with a global union. We appreciate GeoPost taking the lead in its sector and urge others to follow suit. GeoPost is perfectly placed both in Europe and the world to take the message that decent work, and respect for unions builds a sustainable business.
Together UNI and GeoPost will make it happen by working side by side to implement the agreement for both the benefit of the company’s employees and the economic sustainability of the group
